#AWMBinspiration…Day 31…Amy Cuddy!

Amy Cuddy is an American social psychologist known for her research on stereotyping and discrimination, emotions, power, nonverbal behavior, and the effects of social stimuli on hormone levels. She is an Associate Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School, in the Negotiation, Organizations & Markets Unit. Her TED talk, delivered at TEDGlobal 2012 in Edinburgh, has been viewed more than 21 million times and ranks second among the most-viewed TED talks.

She shows how “power posing” — standing in a posture of confidence, even when we don’t feel confident — can affect testosterone and cortisol levels in the brain, and might even have an impact on our chances for success.

This work may help clarify how men and women rise to the top–or fall by the wayside–in school and at work

It really is a great talk – try the poses and see how it works for you!
