Rosa Parks & Courage Twitter Chat 2 Dec ’15

This week – Tuesday 1st December – marks the 60th anniversary of Rosa Parks’s refusal to give up her seat on a bus for a white passenger. An act of disobediance that sparked a civil rights movement across the USA pushing for greater equality for African American people.

She has been quoted as saying “People always say that I didn’t give up my seat because I was tired, but that isn’t true. I was not tired physically, or no more tired than I was at the end of a working day…. No, the only tired I was, was tired of giving in.” She later said she couldn’t have lived with herself if she had given in and stood up.

The actions and courage of this incredible woman continue to inspire generations 60 years later. It has sparked us to ask this week for #AsianWomenMeanBiz Twitter chat ‘when was the last time you demonstrated courage?’ What are your tips and suggestions to help others?
