Some of the top professionals and businesses from the British Indian Community were awarded for their ingenuity and achievements.
The event took place at the Birmingham Conference & Events Centre at the Holiday Inn Birmingham City Centre on Friday 26th of July. It was hosted by Sanjay Majhu; restaurateur, entrepreneur, pharmacist and lead singer of the Bhangra Beatles.
The British Indian Awards celebrate success, excellence and perseverance across all industries. Categories included Indian Woman of the Year (won by a familiar face!) Best in Creative Industries and Rising Star in Law.

To be absolutely candid I wasn’t sure whether to accept the nomination and attend the Awards. I was torn between my identity as a Sikh woman, born and bred in the UK, not feeling Indian and dismayed with many of the injustices happening in India. I reconciled that with my understanding this event was organised by a commercial, professional organisation not affiliated with the Indian Government, and also that I founded AWMB that spans all South Asian women – of which most are Indian! It was very special to attend with my dear friend Sej Amin (photographed) who was nominated for Rising Star of the Year. I accepted the award on behalf of the women in our AWMB tribe.
