Q1 Check-In: Celebrate Wins and Learn from Challenges

Three months have already flown by. Can you believe we’re at the last week of the first quarter? It’s easy to get caught up in the busyness of life and forget to pause. But taking a moment now to reflect can make all the difference between running on autopilot and moving forward with intention.

For many South Asian women, the start of the year comes with high expectations. We are encouraged to excel at work, care for our families and communities, and keep pushing ourselves to meet goals we set for ourselves or that others set for us. Reflection isn’t about judging how well you’ve done; it’s about understanding your journey, noticing growth and learning from challenges.

Here are some reflective questions to guide you as Q1 draws to a close:

  • What wins am I proud of? Even small steps count. Did you speak up in a meeting, try something new or set a boundary you’d been avoiding?
  • Where did I face challenges? Consider moments that tested your confidence, patience or resilience. What lessons did they teach you?
  • What have I let go of? Identify habits, thoughts or situations that no longer serve you. Letting go creates space for growth.
  • How have I prioritised my wellbeing? Check in on your energy, balance and mental health. Are you making time for yourself or always putting others first?
  • Am I moving closer to my goals? Reflect on your intentions for the year. What steps have brought you closer to your dreams, and what needs adjustment?

Reflection is not about perfection it’s about awareness. Taking stock of Q1 gives you clarity, helps you course-correct if needed, and sets a positive tone for the next quarter.

As South Asian women, we often focus on doing it all—career, family, community—but this is a reminder to also focus on ourselves. Growth isn’t just about achievements; it’s about understanding your journey, celebrating progress and learning from the challenges.

Take a few quiet moments this week to journal, meditate or simply think through these questions. Notice where you’ve grown, be gentle with yourself where things haven’t gone as planned and step into Q2 with intention, courage and clarity.
