Reflections Of Inspire Club As A Founder Member

I believe in divine intervention. In listening to your intuition, your heart and the universe guiding you.

After setting my intentions for 2020, creating my vision board, I had to go back to it and rejig my plans. (Sh*t happens…and you’ve just got to deal with it, another of my mantras!)

My friend reminded me: ”Man makes plans, God laughs at man’s plan”

So true! We are only in control up to a certain point, but set your intentions, visualise the life you want, and the universe will do the rest.

My priorities shifted to creating  a more ‘blended life’ of work, personal development, mindset and spiritual growth, I even had (a left over from my 2019 vision board) to connect with more like minded and influential Asian women online….and there you all were! So thank you.

What I have experienced over the first few months of being part of Inspire Club.

Finding my flow –  carving out time for ME with two kids, being pregnant, working full time during a pandemic was a challenge. I didn’t manage it for months…slowly small adjustments (like rushing bath time!) made Thursday Nights me time.

Ahh-aa moments – Oprah! Who doesn’t love her?! When I did tune in, even if it was at 8.15pm, while my toddler was demanding mummy stayed in bed with him until he fell asleep…I would lie there hugging him, with my earphones in, listening, learning….and on occasions falling asleep.

Sharing the knowledge – I just couldn’t keep all this to myself! Whether it was starting a discussion with my husband…him wondering what was making me ‘yes! Ahh! No! While listening to Layla Okhai or exploring my intuition with my sister (whom I also go to  sign up to Inspire Club with me!) and discussing  our spiritual journey – it’s good to talk right. Like Rupinders ‘eyebrow lady’ story… let’s empower, change the narrative and lift our South Asian sisters!

Thriving during a pandemic – I don’t have time to read as much as before, I used to love a good podcast, audible, but the pandemic has taken away a lot of mine, no actually, my husbands and mine mind space and free time. We have struggled, but we have supported each other, and tried to adjust to this new way of living and working. I have always wanted to work more flexibly, and have joined campaigns to advocate this, taken my company to a hearing over it, and it’s promising to see a new work/life culture, acceptance emerging.  But childcare is not cheap, and the guilt is rife! So we’re still trying to carve out what we need, what our family needs, but I love that we talk, we listen to each other and work as a team, it’s our strength.

I feel clever! Every subject has resonated with my heart and mind. I have explored intuition deeper, I have used Layla Okhai’s presentation to update my team, I have found a new yoga practice with Deepa, I have heard the same old prejudices and arguments that held my mum, poohas, masis, Bibi/Nani back happening today. Generational trauma and barriers are well and truly present today. But together we help shift these.

We can help to elevate our fellow sisters, and we have some way to go to break down these barriers, BUT I have been impressed with the pragmatic responses and advice coming from this group. We have grown, arming ourselves with knowledge, not basing our personal opinions on myths or gossip. There is no judgement here at Inspire Club.

I am grateful for the time, this space, these ladies.
