We Weren’t Meant to Tiptoe Through Life

“I want to live a big life, a bold life. One that’s mine, completely and unapologetically mine.
I don’t want to tiptoe through life, holding my breath, hoping nothing breaks.”
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

The first time I heard these words, something in me stopped.
I paused the episode.
Rewound it.
Listened again.
And again.

Because it wasn’t just a line from a TV show it was a truth that echoed something I had felt deep inside for years. A quiet knowing that I didn’t want to live small or stay silent.

That I didn’t want to coast through life on autopilot, ticking boxes, meeting expectations, and dimming my own light for the comfort of others.

I wanted to live wide awake.
To feel fully alive.
To take up space.
To own my story: loudly, proudly, and boldly.

And more than anything, I want other women to feel that too.

Especially South Asian women.

Women who, like me, were raised with love but also with limits.
Taught to be careful, not courageous.
To be good, not bold.
To seek approval, not authenticity.

We’re handed dreams, but also deeply ingrained beliefs:
Don’t rock the boat.
Don’t want too much.
Don’t take up too much space.
Be grateful. Be nice. Be quiet.

But what if we were never meant to tiptoe through life, holding our breath, hoping nothing breaks?

What if we were meant to breathe deeply and build lives that light us up?

That’s exactly why I created Asian Women Mean Business.

It’s more than a platform it’s a movement.
A space for South Asian women to grow courageously, reconnect with their power, and rewrite the stories they’ve been told about who they should be.

At Asian Women Mean Business, we help women unlearn perfectionism, let go of people-pleasing, and stop playing small. It’s about rediscovering the woman you are beneath the roles, the noise, and the expectations.

Here, we don’t whisper our dreams we speak them out loud.
We claim them.
We honour them.
And we support one another in building lives and careers that reflect who we truly are.

So if you’ve ever felt like you’re holding your breath, waiting for permission to take up space… maybe this is your sign.

You were made for more than surviving.

You were made to live a life that is yours—completely and unapologetically yours.
